RTW: Words With Friends

Writing Song of the Day: "More Than Words" by Frankie J

Wednesday: I used to HATE spelling this word in elementary school. I would never get it right. But now, I'm cool with it. Mainly because it means it's Road Trip Wednesday day with the ladies of YA Highway. And guess what we're talking about this week: WORDS!

The Highway-ers wanna know:

What words do you absolutely hate? Which ones do you adore?

As writers,  of course there are several words we adore! As of late these have been our favorites:

  1. Yes, "moist" is gross. I always think of an old Harry Connick song when I hear indubitably, though, which is a good memory!

  4. I agree with you on moist. Not a great word. Also totally thinking of How I Met Your Mother now.

I do love juxtaposition. We learnt it in high school. It was one of the many words our teachers would get us to know and remember so we sounded smart in our essays.

  7. Is it coincidental that some of the words you dislike have "oi" in them (moist, ointment, hoist), or do you have something against the "oi" sound? :)

"Moist" is a good onomatopoeic word, but it does sound a bit... ikky. :)

  8. It is interesting how many people shudder at "moist!" Great love words! And I think every kid has trouble with Wednesday. Who came up with the spelling on that one?

  11. Fun fact: I sometimes still have problems spelling Wednesday. I have to quietly say WED-NES-DAY to make sure it's right.
