It's Wednesday...and we know what that means, right? Yes, we're only two days away from the weekend, but we also get to join the lovely ladies from YA Highway for another Road Trip Wednesday. This week they want to know:
What's your numero-uno reason for writing?
Well, our response can pretty much be summed into this picture:
That's right--FREEDOM.
Freedom to say what we want to say.
Freedom to be who we want to be.
Freedom to push away the stress from the real world just for a few hours.
What about you all? Why do YOU write?

I love this answer. I'm cheating today...I need some time to think about my answer, so I'm reading everyone else's first. But this is pretty perfect (and I can relate, as I am liberally re-writing my middle school experience in my novel and it feels great!)
Great answer, and that picture is wonderful! For me, it's the fun of creation.
Oh yes, freedom is a great answer. Why didn't I think of that one? ;)
Lovely FREEDOM image! I love your short and sweet take on this, girls... perfect answer!
Good answer guys! This is best (and cheapest) way to build your own world and do or be or say whatever you want.
Awesome answer.
Great answer and one I totally discounted.
So true <3
Excellent answer! I think my reason is the sub-category under freedom: FUN. I just enjoy it so much--creating people and places that I can move and shape however I want is really fun...which is another form of freedom, yes? :)
This is such a great answer, which I hadn't thought about but totally on. I love the release that comes with writing.
Fantastic answer. I'm going to tell my students this. Yes, you will be part of my next lecture. I hope you don't mind!
I write because I like being the supreme omniscient creator of my own universe where everybody gets their happy ending.
Yes to the freedom of writing!
Yes to freedom! Great answer.
Love your answer! I completely agree. :)
Great answer!
Yay! We're glad you all liked our answer and that you feel the same freedom when you write.
And we're elated that you want to put this in your lecture, Lori Ann! Thanks so much :D
