RTW: Putting the Spotlight on Co-Stars

Reading Song of the Day: "Spotlight" by Jennifer Hudson

Wednesday--middle of the week, the slowest day b/c you just can't wait for Friday to get here...but also: Road Trip Wednesday time with the ladies at YA Highway. This week they wanna know:

What supporting character from a YA book would you most like to see star in their own novel?

This is one of the most awesome questions ever! And we knew EXACTLY what two characters we loved enough to read an entire novel based on them. Read on:

*Lindsay from Lauren Oliver's Before I Fall. While reading this amazing book, we got a chance to know Samantha Kingston throughout the novel. We understood her by the end AND we got to see her redeem herself. But what about Lindsay? I mean, we kinda get why she behaves the way she does by novel's end, but me and Pam are DYING to know more about Lindsay's personal life. We want to see what she's truly like behind the bitchy comments and the thick wall she puts up.

*Four from Veronica Roth's Divergent. I mean, really--do we need to say more than that? Four is the epitome of hotness. Rough, elusive, sarcastic, strong, smart. We couldn't get enough of Four while following Tris' adventures. Every time we turned the page, we were hoping Four would show up again. How cool would it be if there was an entire book dedicated to Four's background (which, hello, from the taste of it we get in Divergent is pretty intriguing and dramatic) and his feelings about Tris before he makes them known? We really hope Veronica's reading this post and strongly considers writing a book from Four's POV :D

Okay, we're done rambling now. What co-star in a YA novel would you love to see move to center stage?

Oh, dear, I haven't read either of these books, and as for co-stars . . . hmmm, off the top of my head, I can't think of one. Maybe I'll come back later.

These choices are so perfect! I would love to get inside Lindsay's head--she was so fun to read. And I'd love ea Divergent prequel to see what Four's life was like before Tris.

Couldn't agree more about Four. I too was just hoping there would be more Four on every page :D

Four is a great choice! I would love to read his story. I still need to get my hands on a copy of Before I Fall.

That's funny. I was just going through the RTWs and got all excited when I saw the Divergent cover.

Oh, Four. Maybe someday. *pats him*

Lindsey's a great one that I didn't even think about. Now that you mention it, I'd love to get inside her head.

BEFORE I FALL is currently sitting on my nightstand... cannot wait to read it! And I chose Four from DIVERGENT as well, so clearly you two are brilliant. :)

I feel so ashamed to say that I haven't read either of these books, but Divergent is at the top of my to-read (physical pile) and I am planning on buying Before I Fall.

Before I Fall is near the top of my list--I just read Delirium and really liked it so I'm ready for more Lauren Oliver.

I feel like saying characters from series that aren't entirely out yet, like Divergent, would jinx things--really I just want more of that universe and more Tris. It's once I know where characters are going to be left once and for all that I decide who I miss the most. (Although that kind of makes me a hypocrite, because Lois Lowry has been blogging about a fourth Giver-universe novel for a while now and that was my choice today...but it feels different.)

These stories were both in the back of my mind when I thought about my answers. There are so many awesome supporting characters to choose from!

I actually would love to see more from Sykes or Kent. Especially if we got to see Juliet and Lindsay when they were friends.

Hmm, it has been a while since I read "before I fall." I honestly can't remember which one Lindsay was. But interesting that you would pick her.

And I'm putting Divergent on my "to read" list.

Haven't read Divergent, but judging from all the great reviews it sounds like it would make a great movie in general. :)
